Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the socio-professional self-determination of high school students in the process of their physical and health activities. Modern society imposes high demands on the professional and social adaptation of youth, and the role of physical education in this process is becoming increasingly significant. This paper examines how physical education and sports activities can influence the choice of professional activities and the formation of personal qualities in high school students. Combined methods were used for the study: questionnaires, observation, interviews, and document analysis. The sample included 150 high school students (100 boys and 50 girls) from various schools. The questionnaire helped identify the preferences and motivation of students for physical education, while observation allowed analyzing their behavior and involvement in the training process. Interviews with physical education teachers provided additional information on the impact of sports activities on the socio-professional self-determination of students. The results of the study showed that regular physical education contributes not only to the physical development of high school students but also has a positive effect on their social and professional orientations. Students who are actively engaged in sports possess more pronounced leadership qualities, high self-esteem, and better adapt to the collective. Moreover, they show greater interest in professions related to physical activity and have clear professional goals. Thus, physical and health activities are an important factor in the formation of the socio-professional self-determination of students. The results of this study are consistent with previous works indicating the positive impact of physical activity on the personal development of students. However, there is a need for further research to more thoroughly study the mechanisms of this influence and develop effective strategies for integrating physical education programs into the educational process. It is also important to consider the individual characteristics of students and provide them with diverse opportunities for self-realization through sports. The study confirmed that physical and health activities play a key role in the process of socio-professional self-determination of high school students. Engaging students in regular physical education contributes to the formation of important personal qualities and helps determine professional directions, ultimately improving their readiness for adult life and career growth.
