Abstract
The article examines the verbalization of the concept of "food" in English and Russian linguistic cultures using proverbs and sayings. The work was carried out within the framework of the IMRAD structure and is aimed at identifying similarities and differences in the reflection of the concept of "food" in two national linguistic worldviews. The study of the concept of "food" in language and culture is an urgent task, since this concept plays an important role in shaping the mentality and worldview of peoples. Proverbs and sayings as stable units of language are ideal material for analyzing cultural values, social norms and aspects of world perception. The author uses methods of comparative analysis, as well as cognitive-discursive and linguocultural approaches. The research material was 300 Russian and English proverbs and sayings, which reflect the concept of "food". The analysis revealed key similarities and differences in the verbalization of the concept of "food". In Russian linguoculture, food is often associated with warmth, hospitality and family values, which is reflected in proverbs such as "The hut is not red with corners, but red with pies." In English linguoculture, the concept of "food" has a more pragmatic meaning, focusing on efficiency and prosperity, for example: "Half a loaf is better than none." Differences in the perception of food in relation to social norms are revealed: the Russian language reflects collectivism and dependence on natural conditions, while the English language emphasizes individualism. The interpretation of differences through the prism of historical, geographical and social factors is proposed. It is also noted that the similarities are related to the general nature of human existence and the universal symbolism of food. The study provides a better understanding of the cultural codes of the two peoples and highlights the importance of the concept of "food" as an element of cultural identity. The results can be used in intercultural communication and foreign language teaching.
