Methodological approaches to overcoming the language barrier among employees of industrial enterprises in international cooperation on environmental issues

Abstract

The scientific article is devoted to the development and evaluation of methodological approaches to overcoming the language barrier among employees of industrial enterprises involved in international cooperation on environmental issues. The introduction substantiates the urgency of the problem, due to the need for an accurate understanding and use of specialized environmental terminology, the preparation of reports and negotiations in accordance with international standards. It is emphasized that insufficient language training, especially in highly professional vocabulary, creates serious obstacles to effective communication and the implementation of environmental initiatives. The materials and methods section describes a comprehensive research methodology that included an assessment of the current level of foreign language proficiency by employees of enterprises that regularly interact with international partners. Mixed methods were used to collect the data: standardized tests (quantitative data), questionnaires, interviews, and observations (qualitative data). The developed questionnaires and test tasks focused on professionally oriented communication, understanding documentation and compiling reports on environmental issues. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and expert verification methods. The results of the study revealed significant difficulties for employees when working with specialized environmental terminology and documentation, despite a satisfactory knowledge of basic grammar and everyday vocabulary. Experimental testing of various methodological approaches has shown that the hybrid learning format (online + face-to-face) is the most effective, demonstrating the highest average confidence score in negotiations (7.85) and the best indicators of adaptability and discussion skills. The high effectiveness of step-by-step complication of educational material has also been proven (79.22% success rate compared to 71.54% with linear presentation), although it requires more time. Corporate culture is recognized as a key success factor: a strong correlation (r > 0.6) was found between management support, staff motivation, and involvement in international projects. The data from the tables and graphs confirm the positive dynamics of the growth in the level of language proficiency (basic grammar, professional vocabulary, learning rate) in proportion to the duration of training and the level of corporate support. The discussion of the results highlights the practical importance of an integrated approach integrating adapted language techniques (hybrid learning, step-by-step complexity) with the formation of a supportive corporate environment. It is concluded that it is necessary to develop specialized training programs that are as close as possible to real production tasks in the field of ecology, and the importance of interdisciplinary cooperation between methodologists, environmentalists and managers for the sustainable development of enterprises in a global context.
