Abstract
The article analyzes the influence of Orientalism and Occidentalism on the formation of cultural identities of the East and the West. The study examines historical and contemporary approaches to the concepts of "East" and "West", as well as their impact on international relations and intercultural exchange. The work focuses on how Western and Eastern stereotypes shape ideas about cultural differences and contribute to the emergence of bias and misunderstanding. Key theoretical works by Edward Said and other authors are analyzed, as well as specific examples from politics and media practice. The article suggests that understanding and overcoming Orientalist and Occidentalist stereotypes can contribute to improving international relations and developing intercultural dialogue. It can also revise one's own culture. In conclusion, recommendations are offered for future research and practical approaches to eliminating cultural barriers, such as intercultural education and cultural exchange.
